Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
