Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
